Granby Veterinary Clinic - Veterinary Services

Because of the shorter lifespan of our pets, we stress the importance of annual physical examinations for healthy pets. Thorough check-ups and preventive care can help alleviate serious health problems. Older pets AVMA logoand those with chronic problems benefit from more frequent examinations. In addition, regular examinations are the basis for a veterinary client-patient-relationship (VCPR). The Colorado Veterinary Practice Act requires a valid VCPR in order for diagnosis and treatment of animals.

Diagnostic and Therapeutic ServicesDiagnostic and Therapeutic Services:  Diagnosis of problems starts with a thorough history and good physical examination. With her years of experience, Dr. Tasillo is skilled at developing a list of possibilities for specific problems. Blood tests and x-rays may be advised. Sometimes hospitalization and intravenous fluids are recommended, usually with specific injectable medications. We can take care of a lot of issues, but we will also let you know your options should your pet be critically ill.

Surgical ServicesSurgical Services:  Our surgical suite provides for the performance of a wide variety of surgical procedures. We schedule elective spay, neuters and growth excisions in the morning. Emergency surgery occasionally forces us to cancel appointments; please be understanding if this happens. For orthopedic procedures such as repair of cruciate ligament tears, we offer referrals to specialists in Steamboat or Denver.

AnesthesiaAnesthesia:  We tailor anesthetic protocols to provide an extra margin of safety, especially for our older or high-risk patients. Using the most modern equipment, the patient's vital signs are monitored during all anesthetic procedures. For longer procedures, anesthesia is induced by and injection and maintained by gas. The gas flows with oxygen, and the level of anesthesia can be adjusted. For instance, patients having dental procedures are maintained on a lighter plane of anesthesia than those having major abdominal surgery. For shorter procedures (pulling quills!) injectable anesthesia may suffice. Many times we reverse these patients, giving them another injection that wakes them up so that they can go home more quickly.

Internal medicine consultsInternal medicine consults: We offer referrals to a specialist who performs ultrasounds in Steamboat and helps us with the diagnosis of more complicated cases. Clients often also go to specialists such as oncologists, ophthalmologists or dermatologists in Denver.

Radiology ServicesRadiology Services:  Radiographs (x-rays) are urgent is some cases of trauma or illness. Many times we can take a quick X-ray while  you wait. Sometimes we will schedule time for X-ray procedures that may require sedation.

Our dental X-ray machine is used for all dental procedures. Dog and cat teeth have very large roots that often have problems we can only see by X-ray.

DentistryDentistry:  Our dental services include oral exams with charting and dental x-rays. Then we proceed with teeth cleaning, polishing, and any necessary tooth extractions or oral surgery.

LaboratoryLaboratory:  Our in-house laboratory facilities provide for serum chemistry, hematology, urinalysis and parasite testing. We also utilize several national veterinary laboratories for specialized diagnostics and consultations.

Permanent identificationPermanent identification: Microchip implantation is quick, and easy while your dog is devouring treats!

PharmacyPharmacy:  We maintain an inventory of pharmaceuticals, flea and tick control products and heartworm preventatives to meet the needs of your pet.

NutritionNutrition: We carry Hill's Science Diets and Prescription diets. Orders are placed every Wednesday, with deliveries on Thursdays. So if you need something, call and we will make sure to get it for you.

Behavioral CounselingBehavioral Counseling:  Early puppy training is the best way to prevent behavior problems. We are happy to offer suggestions! Problems such as excessive barking, chewing, spraying, scratching, digging, house soiling and aggression are unfortunately too common. Once any medical issues are assessed, we can help you to address these problems.
